At Mount Elgon Eco Tours, we understand that travel plans can change. This Refund Policy explains the conditions under which refunds may be issued for tours and trekking activities booked with us.

 

1️⃣ Booking Deposit

• A deposit may be required to confirm your booking, but we generally accept bookings without prior deposits.

• Deposits secure park permits, guides, accommodation, and other logistics.

• Some deposits may be non-refundable, especially where park fees or accommodation bookings have already been paid.

 

2️⃣ Cancellation by Client

All cancellations must be made in writing via email or WhatsApp.

Refund Guidelines

• 30+ days before tour start date – Full refund.

• 15–29 days before tour start date – Full refund but will depend on expenses already paid.

• Less than 24 hours before tour start date – Half refund depending on the expenses already paid. 

• No-show – No refund.

 

Please note:

• National Park fees are usually non-refundable once permits are issued.

• Accommodation and transport deposits may also be non-refundable.

Mount Elgon Eco Tours operates within regulations set by authorities in Uganda, and some fees are beyond our control.

 

3️⃣ Cancellation by Mount Elgon Tours

We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule a tour due to:

• Severe weather conditions

• Safety concerns

• Government restrictions

• Force majeure events (natural disasters, political unrest, etc.)

 

In such cases, clients will be offered:

• A rescheduled tour date, or

• A partial or full refund depending on recoverable costs

 

4️⃣ Changes to Bookings

If you request to:

• Change tour dates

• Change number of participants

• Modify itinerary

Additional costs may apply depending on availability and park regulations.

 

5️⃣ Unused Services

No refunds will be issued for:

• Unused accommodation

• Missed meals

• Missed activities

• Early departure from the tour

 

6️⃣ Refund Processing

• Approved refunds will be processed within 7–14 business days.

• Refunds will be made using the original payment method where possible.

• Bank transfer or transaction fees may be deducted from the refund amount.

 

7️⃣ Travel Insurance Recommendation

We strongly recommend that all travelers purchase comprehensive travel insurance that covers:

• Trip cancellation

• Medical emergencies

• Unexpected travel interruptions

This protects you in case of unforeseen circumstances.
