Welcome to Mount Elgon Eco Tours. By booking a tour or using our website, you agree to the following Terms & Conditions. Please read them carefully before making a reservation.

1️⃣ Booking & Reservations

All bookings must be made through our official website, email, phone, or WhatsApp.
In certain circumstances, a deposit may be required to confirm your reservation. But we generally accept bookings without prior deposits.
A booking is considered confirmed once you receive confirmation is sent by us.
Clients must provide accurate personal information during booking.

2️⃣ Payments

Prices are quoted in USD or UGX unless otherwise stated.
Payments can be made via approved payment methods communicated by Mount Elgon Eco Tours.
All the payments or the remaining balance (if applicable) must be paid before the start of the tour.
Park fees and government charges are subject to change without prior notice.

3️⃣ Cancellation & Refund Policy

Client Cancellations

Cancellations must be made in writing via email or WhatsApp.
Refund eligibility depends on how early the cancellation is made.
Some costs such as park permits and accommodation deposits may be non-refundable.

Company Cancellations

Mount Elgon Eco Tours reserves the right to cancel a tour due to:

Severe weather conditions
Safety concerns
Government restrictions

In such cases, clients may receive:

A rescheduled date, or
A partial/full refund depending on circumstances

4️⃣ Health & Fitness Requirements

Some hikes and treks require good physical fitness.
Clients must inform us of any medical conditions before the tour.
Participation is at your own risk.
We recommend obtaining travel insurance before traveling to Uganda.

5️⃣ Travel Insurance

All clients are strongly advised to have comprehensive travel insurance that covers:

Medical emergencies
Trip cancellations
Personal injury
Loss of luggage
Emergency evacuation

Mount Elgon Tours is not responsible for losses that could have been covered by travel insurance.

6️⃣ Liability Disclaimer

While we take all reasonable precautions to ensure safety:

Mount Elgon Eco Tours is not liable for injury, illness, loss, damage, delay, or inconvenience caused by circumstances beyond our control.
Clients must follow the instructions of guides at all times.
We are not responsible for loss or damage of personal belongings during the tour.

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Uganda. Any disputes arising shall be resolved under Ugandan jurisdiction.

Refund Policy

Mount Elgon Tours

At Mount Elgon Eco Tours, we understand that travel plans can change. This Refund Policy explains the conditions under which refunds may be issued for tours and trekking activities booked with us.

1️⃣ Booking Deposit

A deposit may be required to confirm your booking, but we generally accept bookings without prior deposits.
Deposits secure park permits, guides, accommodation, and other logistics.
Some deposits may be non-refundable, especially where park fees or accommodation bookings have already been paid.

2️⃣ Cancellation by Client

All cancellations must be made in writing via email or WhatsApp.

Refund Guidelines

30+ days before tour start date – Full refund.
15–29 days before tour start date – Full refund but will depend on expenses already paid.
Less than 24 hours before tour start date – Half refund depending on the expenses already paid.
No-show – No refund.

Please note:

National Park fees are usually non-refundable once permits are issued.
Accommodation and transport deposits may also be non-refundable.

Mount Elgon Eco Tours operates within regulations set by authorities in Uganda, and some fees are beyond our control.

3️⃣ Cancellation by Mount Elgon Tours

We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule a tour due to:

Severe weather conditions
Safety concerns
Government restrictions
Force majeure events (natural disasters, political unrest, etc.)

In such cases, clients will be offered:

A rescheduled tour date, or
A partial or full refund depending on recoverable costs

4️⃣ Changes to Bookings

If you request to:

Change tour dates
Change number of participants
Modify itinerary

Additional costs may apply depending on availability and park regulations.

5️⃣ Unused Services

No refunds will be issued for:

Unused accommodation
Missed meals
Missed activities
Early departure from the tour

6️⃣ Refund Processing

Approved refunds will be processed within 7–14 business days.
Refunds will be made using the original payment method where possible.
Bank transfer or transaction fees may be deducted from the refund amount.

7️⃣ Travel Insurance Recommendation

We strongly recommend that all travelers purchase comprehensive travel insurance that covers:

Trip cancellation
Medical emergencies
Unexpected travel interruptions

This protects you in case of unforeseen circumstances.
