Is altitude sickness a major risk on the Bushiyi Trail?
Because the Bushiyi Trail is a fast, direct route, the risk of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) is noticeably higher than on longer trails. On a standard 3-day itinerary, you will ascend more than 1,900m of vertical elevation on Day 1 alone. To mitigate this risk, we highly recommend booking the 4-day or 5-day cross-trail packages, which slow down the ascent pace and allow your body to naturally adjust to the thinning alpine air

No, you cannot purchase hiking permits or clear park logistics at the Bushiyi Ranger Post. The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) has not established a commercial ticketing or booking office at the Bududa trailhead.
